ATI Radeon/Mobility/FireGL Catalyst 8.9 Linux x86/x64.

This release of Catalyst Linux introduces product support for the following new operating systems:

  • Red Flag DT6SP1 production support
  • OpenSUSE 11 production support

    The following section provide a brief description of resolved issues with the latest version of the ATI Catalyst? Linux software suite. These include:

  • A fatal server error no longer occurs when changing the display resolution using Catalyst Control Center Linux Edition and restarting X.
  • Catalyst Control Center Linux Edition: Clicking on the 3D leaf in Page Tree no longer results in 3D Page Tree failing to respond.
  • Catalyst Control Center Linux Edition: A green box at the bottom of the page the TV and Position page is no longer displayed.
  • Default buttons are no longer available in the Catalyst Control Center for driver options that do not have custom settings available.
  • HDMI Audio support for the Linux Operating system is now available for the ATI Radeon HD 3100/3200 series of products.
  • Hot plugging a digital panel to an ATI Radeon HD 46x0 series product no longer results in the digital panel failing to become active.
  • Windows no longer fails to launch after the driver installation for the ATI Radeon HD 4870 product.
  • Rebooting the system after completing the driver installation no longer results in X failing to re-start on systems containing an ATI FireGL V7700 series of product.
  • X no longer fails to respond when shutting down in dual head mode.
  • The entire X desktop including the mouse cursor is no longer choppy during playback of video files or suzi test app.
  • The TV size and position adjusting sliders are no longer missing on systems running Linux.
  • Running aticonfig –initial –f on a system with two display devices connected no longer results in dual head mode failing to function.
  • Automatic post install configuration is now functioning.
  • Corruption is no longer noticed on the Linux Desktop when moving an application or browser window.
  • Logging out one of multiple users no longer results in X failing to display an image.
  • Connecting an HDMI display device may result in the audio failing to be heard.
  • Connecting both a CRT and DFP display device no longer results in the CRT failing to display an image if the DFP is disconnected and then reconnected to the system.
  • The resolutions of 540p and 1080p @ 60Hz no longer fail to be added to the Display Manager list of resolutions when they are selected from HDTV -> Formats.
  • Connecting an HDMI display device and connecting an HDMI cable from the graphics card to the display device no longer results in audio failing.
  • Closing fgl_glxgears or glxgears via the toolkit “X” in a multi-head dual-head environment no longer results in a segmentation fault.
  • Running textured video on systems running Linux no longer results in a segmentation fault.
  • GLESX: An unresolved symbol error is no longer noticed in the XOrg log.
  • Playing rotyov no longer results in the system response time becoming slow on SLES10.2.
  • Doom 3: The performance gap between Windows XP and Linux no longer increases when CrossFire is enabled.
  • SUSE 10.3 or RHEL 5.1: The operating system may fail occasionally to respond when running fgl_glxgears.
  • RHEL 5.1 32-bit/64-bit and SUSE 10.3 32-bit/64-bit: The operating system may fail to launch after the installation of the graphics driver.
  • Undefined symbols may be noticed when trying to load fglrx on Ubuntu 8.10.
  • Softimage XSI Ariane x64: A segmentation fault may occur when loading the application.
  • SPECViewperf 8.1: Running the standard DPPT tests may intermittently result in RHEL 5.2 operating system failing to respond on systems containing an ATI FireGL V7700 series of product.
  • Poor performance may intermittently be noticed when running GTKperf on systems containing an ATI Radeon HD 38x0 or newer product.
  • Playing a video file under X may result in the player displaying a blank image and the audio being choppy.
  • Setting the display resolution to 1600x600 on a system running SUSE 10.3 (32/64bit) or RHEL 5.1 (32/64bit) may result in only half of the image being displayed.
  • The system may hard hang when logging on to the X Server after the installation of the driver package.
  • Entering a standby state while running a 3D application may result in desktop corruption being noticed when resuming the system.
  • Running Xtest may result in the operating system failing to respond.
  • A segmentation fault may occur when closing AMD CCC LE.
  • Launching and exiting Xterm multiple times may intermittently result in a segmentation fault under X server.
  • Enabling OpenGL overlay may result in the system failing to respond during the Xserver initialization.
  • Enabling dual head on all adapters may intermittently result in X failing to respond.
